Effects of Freeze-Thaw Cycles on Physical and Mechanical Properties of Glulam Exposed to Outdoor Environment

This paper presents an experimental investigation to identify suitable indices assess durability of glulam when subjected freeze-thaw cycles in exposed enviroenment. In this study, two types specimens were tested for their performance different levels aging due freezing and thawing. Effect treatment on various parameters including thickness swelling rate, static bending strength, elastic modulus, shear peeling rate adhesive layer studied. Obtained results showed that did not affect the water-resistance as measured by had little effect dimensional stability material. However, applied weakened resistance with more pronounced effects low-density wood. On other hand, bond strength high-density wood was relatively affected appliedfreeze-thaw cycles.
